Four plucky orphans battle the world

This pleasant story opens as four tired and hungry siblings, aged five to fifteen, press their noses against a bakery window, eyeing the stunning goodies within. they need recently lost their oldsters and are on the run from their mean grandfather, whom they need never met. They realize an abandoned boxcar within the woods, found out housekeeping, and live quite happily on berries, bread, and to a small degree meat bought with the oldest boy's gardening pay.
